Laker Families:
IT’S BEEN A GREAT 20 YEARS!!!
Personally, I can’t believe so much
time has passed but I feel that it has been a most worthwhile
endeavor. We are still a “one-of-a-kind” hockey tournament.
Just prior to the start of this
year’s weekend, I was reviewing many of the past yearbooks and I
realized that we have accomplished some remarkable things.
-Our
8,000th skater played this weekend
-Our
2,000th Laker player participated this weekend
-We
have played 936 Games
-We
have awarded 20,608 trophies and gifts
-We
have given out 21,246 sodas after the games
-We
have given out 10,578 apples/oranges after the games
-Published 20 yearbooks with over 2,700 ads
-----and we had
a great time doing it! A top notch twentieth!!
What is it that makes our tournament
so special? Not the trophies, gifts, sodas or books. It’s the people.
The faces of
our tournament group have changed many times in these 20 years. But
one thing remains the same. There are always those who step up and go
beyond what is expected. Those are truly a special group. They are
that “one-of-a-kind” that makes the Laker Tournament work. I
thank all of you who volunteered at the tournament because you have
given freely of your time to benefit all of the youngsters in the
Laker Organization. Your efforts on our tournament team are truly
appreciated... Having everyone working for the tournament is essential
and this is the reason why this tournament is a continued SUCCESS.
Thank you again and be sure to set
your calendar for next year’s March Tournament.
